Government to Burn a Billion?

I just couldn't believe this $120 million mistake. If we have this money to piss away, can't we at least get an extra teacher in our classrooms??

Amplifyd from news.yahoo.com

More than 1 billion unusable bills have been printed. Some of the bills creased during production, creating a blank space on the paper, one official told CNBC. Because correctly printed bills are mixed in with the flawed ones, even the ones printed to the correct design specs can't be used until they 're sorted. It would take an estimated 20 to 30 years to weed out the defective bills by hand, but a mechanized system is expected to get the job done in about a year.

Combined, the quarantined bills add up to $110 billion -- more than 10 percent of the entire U.S. cash supply, which now stands at around $930 billion.

The flawed bills, which cost around $120 million to print, will have to burned.

The new bills are the first to include Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner's signature.  In order to prevent a shortfall, the government has ordered production of the old design, which includes the signature of Bush administration Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson. That, surely, is not the only respect in which the nation's lead economic officials would like to turn back the clock to sometime before the 2008 financial crisis.

Beware happy endings....

Amplifyd from www.mommyliteonline.com

I got a massage last night and it was not consensual.

Well, at first it was.  I wanted one.  I went looking for one.  So a girlfriend and I went to this cheap reflexology place on Pico boulevard.  We took off our shoes and ordered up a one hour chair massage each.  But my willing participation stopped there.

It all started well enough.  A wooden bucket of warm water was put on the ground in front of me and I was instructed to put my feet in it.  Ahhhh....warmth, and peace.

Then the beating began.

Co-Sleeping with the Enemy

New Mommy Lite post. How do you feel about the family bed?

Amplifyd from www.mommyliteonline.com

Co-Sleeping with the Enemy

The "Family Bed."

Do you know what this is?  It's how psychologists refer to your bed when your children sleep with you.  It's the pillow-y haven where the family nestles down together for the night, arms and legs draped across each other in a trusting, completely unprotected fashion.  Soft breathing whooshes in and out of your little angels' puckering, lightly parted lips while their dry warm bodies cuddle into your scooping frame and together you recreate the feel of your womb.

I don't like it.

The New Hollywood Trend: Women Who Like To Eat

I eat.

I eat ice cream, steak, pancakes, grilled cheese and pasta. Do you know what this means? It means my life would make a great movie.

How do I know this? Because recent movies like Julie and Julia, and now Eat, Pray, Love, are being marketed to women based on one simple premise – one “trend” that media executives have been astute enough to notice - women love food.

Mommy Lite: “Paper? Plastic? Or perhaps you’d prefer to kill a baby polar bear with your own hands…”

Who knew that being this eco-conscious was SO hard! Can anyone make recycling and saving the planet a little easier?

Amplifyd from www.mommyliteonline.com

Paper? Plastic? Or perhaps you'd prefer to kill a Polar Bear with your bare hands?

So the continued shock to my system of being back in Los Angeles after weeks in the mountains continues - and the disparities between life here and there - hit me at every turn.  The most glaring of which happened yesterday at the market.

Sooooo....today I took the kids to the beach.

I got the twins dressed, slathered in sunscreen (a big feat for me - I HATE the slathering process...), and headed for Cupsogue beach (or as I now call it "Coxsackie" beach).Read more at www.mommyliteonline.com

This is why those on-line parenting communities are so dangerous...

Fresh-Picked Fight...

I picked a fight.

I knew it wasn't the right thing to do but, well...I was crabby and she asked for it.

It started out innocent enough - I was just reading my e-mail.   I had received a "digest" e-mail from one of those on-line parenting communities that lists all of the latest topics being discussed and
